What's the catch?

Do you store my prompts?
No. Zero retention. Requests pass through, nothing logged beyond billing metadata (model, tokens, latency). You can verify this in our open-source CLI source code on GitHub.
How do you make money if I save 40-86%?
HiWay applies a degressive markup (9-12.5% by volume) on your gross monthly API spend, on top of what your providers bill you directly. On a $1,000 bill: smart routing cuts it ~50% to ~$500, plus ~$100 markup (10% of the $1,000 gross) = ~$600 total. You still save ~$400 (40% net). We only win when you save.
What if I want to leave?
Take your API keys back, change the base_url back to api.openai.com. Done. No data lock-in, no proprietary format, no exit fee. It takes 30 seconds.
Why not just route myself?
You can. We did the work: 7 CPU analyzers, <1ms latency, no LLM call for routing. Building this from scratch = 2-3 months of dev. We charge ~$36/mo on a $1k bill for that.
Is this OpenRouter?
No. OpenRouter resells tokens at their margin on inflated prices. HiWay2LLM uses YOUR keys, you pay providers directly, we charge a small routing fee. Two completely different business models.
Do I need a credit card to start?
No. 2M tokens per month, free forever. No deadline, no trial gimmick, no card. If you outgrow it, the cheapest paid plan is $5.50.
